Above Them single and album

The first single from the debut Above Them full length will be released on 07/09/09 - 'For those who paved the way' has already received fantastic reviews and airplay on BBC radio.

It will be available as a download only single from all reputable outlets such as i-tunes, emusic, amazon, hmv etc etc. The album will be released shortly after on 28/09/09 as a full physical release and via digital souces. Remember kids, we are an independent label and in these tough times we need to be paid for what we put out. Rob Sony blind if you must, but have a heart where the indies are concerned!

Video will be posted here on 10th of August.

"Above Them are a three piece from West Yorkshire they have been busy working on their new album ‘Blueprint For A Better Time’ which is due to be released later in the year but in the mean time the band will be releasing their new single ‘For Those Who Paved The Way’.‘For Those Who Paved The Way’ has a lot going for it, it is a well written and produced single that is full of huge hooks, bouncy bass lines and a big sing-a-long chorus that will leaving you smiling from side to side once you have finished singing along word for word. The song runs for just under 4minutes and it goes through so many twists and turns within that time but keeps the melody and big sound throughout.Just by listening to ‘For Those Who Paved The way’ I realise that Above Them are serious musicians and they know what they want and if their forthcoming new album features more songs of a high quality as found here then they are going to be an UK band worth watching out for."

A new single will be released by Above Them sometime in Sept/October of 2009. To compliment will be the bands first real video, shot by the multi talented James Lockey the promo is to be converted to broadcast quality and distributed to several music TV channels. Exciting stuff indeed! The video will be posted here first nearer the time of release.

We visited Bigtone Studios in Manchester a couple of weeks ago and we can honestly say that the new material will blow people away. This (if life is fair) will be Above Them's time to finally receive some recognition for all the hard work they have put in over the last couple of years.

We have also been receiving regular updates from Lines in Sand and have in our posession a couple of new songs from them. 2009 will be good. The band are wasting no time in establishing themselves in the UK DIY scene and are notching up some prime shows with the likes of The Lock and Keys, Cocean, This Town Needs Guns and have also bagged a support slot at the 'best venue in the whole wide world' - The Leadmill in Sheffield.

More updates coming soon.....

Destroy Before Reading is a new webzine run by a fantastic guy by the name of Rob Hadfield, i have been asked to contribute to this by doing the odd interview, article etc. You can read my first piece by clicking on the link below. The interview is with the scarily articulate Stephen H Davidson from the amazing band Tellison (pictured above top right). Their link is also below.

Happy Christmas/New year - Good Stuff From 2008

So Christmas is upon us, and before we sign off and shut down for the festive period we have a few things we would like say. Firstly thanks to anyone that bought and Inhaler cd, merch or came to a show in 2008. We do this purely out of love and put an immense amount of time and effort into what we do here, so thanks for responding to that and supporting a little known DIY label from Doncaster!

Thanks to the bands that have worked so VERY VERY hard to get out there and spread the word, all of these bands have lives and commitments outside of music, but i can honestly say that i never hear any of them moan about jumping in a van on a week night or at weekends to drive hundreds of miles to play a half hour set for a payment that sometimes does not even cover their petrol money.

Extra special thanks to Above Them for being absolute legends, and three of the nicest lads that we have ever had the pleasure of meeting, watch out for their split single with The Wireless Stores in 2009, which will be released through Nottingham based Field Records...and hopefully an Inhaler released debut album. Fingers crossed.

We have had much to enjoy in 2008, probably too much to mention; but things such as the release of the ep 'Put Your Heart Into This' by Above Them and the amazing reception it received, 13 out of 13 from Room 13!! Henry from Little City Pr who handles our press said he had never ever seen that before! Their appearance at Offset Festival was a highlight too, despite our severe hangovers and sound problems. What made this extra special was that we were joined by members of Lines In Sand along with pals such as Fake DIY/Rocksound journalist Ruth Offord and Recording studio owner and world class sound man Steve Ellis...good times. Getting to know/Hearing Lines In Sand for the first time and also getting the added bonus of them agreeing on releasing an album and a single with us in 2009 was also a high point for us.
Non-Inhaler related stuff we have enjoyed were things like the Drowned In Sound night at The Harley in Sheffield, featuring Pulled Apart By Horses and Dananackroyd. Absolutely electric atmosphere and two stunning bands at the top of their game.

The Hear>You >Me zine and blogspot also amused me no end and i found myself attempting to evade the internet police at work to log on for my daily fix. The Gaslight Anthem album has been piped into my ears 24 hours a day since it's release, also catching up with a show stealing Tellison at The Leadmill, Sheffield was a fine thing indeed, but nothing compared (and i mean nothing) with seeing Stapleton at The Packhorse in Leeds for what i fear may be the last time we ever hear them live again, an hour and a half of classic songs spanning all their years together... true legends.

So, an eventful year all round. Looking forward to 2009. Thanks for your support.
